Scholarship Information

The winning students will be awarded scholarships for use towards their college education or use in summer arts camps. All scholarship awards MUST be claimed within 12 months of high school graduation. The amount of scholarships is based on the success of fundraising events for Concert on the Green. The fundraising for the scholarships is based solely on support from Clay County residents and businesses and any proceeds from Concert on the Green events. Donations are appreciated and can be made at any time.

2024 Young Artists Music Competition

Concert on the Green is pleased to announce the 2024 Music Competition for Clay County students.  This young artist event is designed to promote music education in Clay County. The winner will be chosen through a competitive audition process.  The winner will receive a scholarship award that can be used toward music or college expenses. 

Award amounts:

Senior division, instrumental:  1st - $1000, 2nd- $750, 3rd - $500

Senior division, vocal: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $750, 3rd - $500

Junior division: 1st- $300, 2nd - $200, 3rd - $100

Winners may have the opportunity to perform at Cocoa & Carols 2024 and/or a winners' recital at Penney Farms.

Eligibility:  To be eligible, students must either live in Clay County or attend a school in Clay County. Students in grades 9-12 will compete in the Senior Division. Students in grades 6-9 will compete in the Junior Division. As a 9th grader, students may choose to enter either division.  Students can be chosen as the first place soloist winner more than once, but not in consecutive years. 

Pay attention to your inbox for when your audition is scheduled.

When it comes time for your audition, be sure to bring a picture of yourself, and 3 copies of your selection for the judges as well as the original editions.

Application Guidelines

INSTRUMENTALISTS

Participants may choose their own piece for the competition. 

Applicant's audition must be accompanied (this includes senior division pianists). Applicant may arrange for an accompanist.  At the request of the applicant, an accompanist will be provided at no cost provided that the applicant use the accompanist approved by Concert on the Green.  If applicant chooses to bring in an outside accompanist, all fees are the responsibility of the applicant.

  • Senior Division: participants must perform a solo piece that is at least a grade 5.
  • Junior Division: participants must perform a solo piece that is at least a grade 3. 

VOCALISTS

Participants should choose their own pieces for the competition that are appropriate for their ability and vocal range. 

All vocalist participants must perform TWO pieces.   One piece must be a classical art song or aria in the original language.  One selection must be from a Broadway Show.  Music must be memorized for consideration for First, Second, or Third place.

Vocal solos may be performed in any key, published or transposed.

Songs with titles listed in a foreign language must be performed in that language.

Songs with titles listed in English may also be performed in another published language.

2024 Poster Art Competition

Rules and Submission Guidelines for COG Poster Contest

The annual Concert on the Green Poster Contest is an excellent opportunity for students and their art programs. Winning students will receive a scholarship award and their work will be displayed on our website.  

When submitting a poster for our contest, make sure that your art follows the theme and is sized properly. Be sure to ask your art teacher for help or feedback when designing your poster.

Who is Eligible? ANY school-age student residing in Clay County, grades 4 – 12. Students from public, private or home schools and those who attend a school outside Clay County as long as they reside in Clay County.  Students can be chosen as the first-place winner more than once, but not in consecutive years. 

Theme: The theme of the poster contest for Grades 4-6th is “COCOA & CAROLS”. Concert on the Green - through Cocoa & Carols- is supporting student vocalists and instrumentalists by offering a chance to perform live in front of thousands of Clay County residents and visitors in a beautiful backdrop behind Moosehaven on River Road in Orange Park, Florida.  We are looking for exciting art that we can use to promote this event, and the winning art will be used for this purpose. This event is now held in December of each year.

For poster contestants Grades 7-12, the theme is “Building Community through the Arts” which is a tagline Concert on the Green uses in communications. For this competition, we are looking for dynamic yet simple ways to express this tagline, and the contest is to help us illustrate the unifying power and joy music and art bring to our community.

Entry Requirements: There is no cost for entry. Only one poster per student is allowed. The poster design must cover a 11" x 12" section of a 11" x 17" paper or canvas (saving 5" on BOTTOM) using any artistic medium.  Canvas shall not be stretched on a frame. Artwork must be flat.

All submitted artwork is released to Concert on the Green for the exclusive use of Concert on the Green. If you need a copy for your portfolio, take a picture beforehand.

You must complete the following STEPS:

  1. Fill out CONTEST CHECKLIST SUBMISSION FORM
  2. Attach CONTEST CHECKLIST SUBMISSION FORM to the backside of your poster art
  3. Deliver your poster art by Friday, March 8, 2024 by 5:00 pm to the office of Emily Dockery, Orange Park Town Hall, 2042 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073.

 

An application form MUST be completed with final entries delivered to Orange Park Town Hall, 2042 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073, to the office of Emily Dockery. No late entries will be accepted.

Prizes will be awarded in three divisions:

Elementary Division (4th - 6th grade)
First Place, Second Place, and Honorable Mention

Junior Division (7th and 8th grade) 
First Place (scholarship), Second Place, and Honorable Mention

Senior Division (9th – 12th grade)

First Place: 

  • Receives a scholarship* to the college or art camp of choice
  • Winner’s school program will receive a matching program grant
  • Will be recognized as the official 2024 Concert on the Green poster artist

Second and Third Place: 

  • Receives a scholarship* to the college or art camp of choice
  •  Recognition on Concert on the Green website

Honorable Mention: 

  •  Receives a cash reward
  • Recognition on Concert on the Green website

*All scholarship awards must be claimed within 12 months of high school graduation.

The Clay County school program responsible for producing the winning poster will receive a program grant, in addition to recognition via Concert on the Green press releases and news articles. All student winners will be recognized on the Concert on the Green website.
