2018 POSTER CONTEST WINNERS
148 elementary, junior, and high school students entered the scholarship contest where judges rated the art on originality, creativity, and artistic elements. The Clay County Schools participating this year were: Clay High School, Fleming Island High School, Keystone Heights Junior High and High School, Lake Asbury Junior High School, Lakeside Junior High School, Orange Park High School, Seven Bridges School, McRae Elementary, and St. Johns Country Day School.
The contest encourages school art students to create art representative of symphonic music. This year’s judges were Carolyn Day, Betty McKee, and Carron Wedlund.
The winning posters in the Senior, Junior, and Elementary Divisions will be on public display at the Clay County Fair in the J.P. Hall Pavilion during the entire fair schedule. These posters, and 30 additional posters will be on display in the art gallery at the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts until May 25, 2018, and can be viewed at any time that the box office is open. All student winners will be recognized and presented with prizes on May 27 at the Concert on the Green annual event held on the grounds of St. Johns Country Day School in Orange Park.
- Senior Division -
An Orange Park High School junior and student of Ms. Carrie Keene is the winner of the 2018 Concert of the Green poster contest.
"Clarinet Celebration" by student LeAnn Hilliard will serve as the event's official poster and be printed on the front cover of the program for the 2018 outdoor event. The May 27th concert event this year will be on the grounds of St. Johns Country Day School. The annual event features local bands, family activities, food trucks and is highlighted by an outdoor concert by the Jacksonville Symphony. The event will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show.
Concert on the Green congratulates all the students who entered this year's contest. Activities involving art and music encourage students to explore, experiment and problem solve. Artistic and musical pursuits provide us a universal language that can open the door to a world of possibilities.
