2019 YOUNG ARTIST and JAZZ MUSIC COMPETITIONS
Our annual Howard Tappan Memorial Young Artists Music Competition is an excellent opportunity for instrumental and vocal students in Clay County. Winning students not only receive a scholarship award, they enjoy the opportunity to perform at the Concert on the Green event on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.
This year brought a talented group of Clay County students to the annual April auditions. Finalists pictured (L-R) are Torrin Heinrichs, Jack Lyons, Sydney Copeland, Ellison Whitehead and Elizabeth Whitehead.
The Concert on the Green William Prince Outstanding Jazz Musician Competition was launched in 2018. This competition celebrates jazz music education for our Clay County students. Jack Lyons on Trumpet was chosen as the winner of the award for 2019, and will be performing on Trumpet with a jazz combo just prior to the symphony at Concert on the Green.
