2013 POSTER CONTEST WINNERS

Orange Park High School Sweeps the Top 3 Prizes for Concert on the Green Poster Contest!

Three talented students of Ms. Carrie Keene at Orange Park High School (OPHS) were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges on March 29th to be the 2013 winners of the annual Concert on the Green Poster Competition. Over 111 applications were received for this year's Competition from Clay County Elementary, Junior, and High School visual art students.

The mission of the Concert on the Green (COG) is to provide music and visual art scholarship opportunities to Clay County students by celebrating the talents of these students during an annual outdoor event. The Concert on the Green has been held for 23 of the last 25 years. In 2013, the concert, showcasing the student art and music scholarship winners, will be held on Sunday, May 27th at Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club in Green Cove Springs.

The winners of the 2013 Poster contest were all new participants in the competition. The 1st place position was won by Ebony Bell, a 12th grader at OPHS. Her winning poster is titled "The Cello". Ebony has been studying art for only 2 years. She hopes to use her talents in the study of Art and Music in college. Her poster will be used in advertisement for the Memorial Day Weekend concert.

The 2nd place winner, an OPHS sophomore, was Megan Buzby. Her poster is titled "Memorial Serenade". Ms. Buzby is the Sophomore Class President and is active in art, weightlifting and swimming at OPHS. She enjoys volunteering at Ronald McDonald House and SMILE camp during the summer. She has been a Girl Scout for 11 years and participates in her church youth choir. She plans to major in Studio Art 2-D and either double major or minor in Business/Marketing in college.

Although new to the COG competition, OPHS junior Keilyn Lorenzo is no novice to placing in art contests. Keilyn's work has previously placed in the annual "Chalk Walk". Her poster "The Sound of Colour" won this year's 3rd place spot. She has been practicing art since she was very little and plans to study graphic design in college.
