CONTEST INFORMATION

The Young Artist Concerto Competition was initiated in 1990 and continues each year in April. A Music Audition day is held annually for clay county student musicians; two winning positions are possible - one for a vocalist and one for an instrumentalist. The winning students are given the opportunity to perform as guest soloists with the Jacksonville Symphony on the final Memorial Day festivities to recognize the talent of Clay County student visual artists.

There is also a Poster Competition that gives young artists the platform to express their vision of what the concert is about. The artist put their vision to image of what is iconic about our annual event. The Competition is one way for them showcase their talent and work. The winning poster art is used in marketing materials for the concert day and the framed artwork is presented to the major sponsor of the event in order to be displayed in their business.

The winners of the Concerto Competition and the Poster Competition are awarded monetary scholarships also in order to encourage them to continue their artistic endeavors. In addition, a donation is made to the school of each winner to assist in the continued education of the arts in Clay County. Today, Concert on the Green is the single largest music and arts cultural event in Clay County. Over $300,000 has been given out over the past 27 years to Clay County students and Schools.
