Our annual Howard Tappan Memorial Young Artists Music Competition is an excellent opportunity for instrumental and vocal students in Clay County. Winning students not only receive a scholarship award, they enjoy the opportunity to perform at the Concert on the Green event on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.

Five high school students took the top awards in Clay County's 2016 Concert on the Green Music Competition. Twenty-five Clay County students entered the competition and auditioned in an initial round of judging on Saturday, April 16. Eight students were selected for the finalist competition, held at Grace Anglican Church in Fleming Island. Judging the evening event were James Hall and Kevin Reid; the piano accompanists were Diane Combs, Brenda Scott, Nancy Scott and Bonita Wyke and scoring was performed by Gary Combs.
